Folks, I've tried to help you all as much as I can, but to date I have had only 7 donations of less than 10 dollars each

This months bandwidth usage is 9.68 Gig! (TODO:Insert Live data here) I've had to increase the quota by taking some from other websites
This is the last time I can do this without completely choking the other sites
I'm going to try and persevere, but there's no bandwidth left to make further increases, I'll have to re-host - which I simply
cannot afford.
This sites continued existance is up to you

I've also had to lock the forum down to signed up members - it got heavily spammed, sorry bout that, but registrations is still free

I'm 90 percent done building a personal proxy (for windows users only at this point - but it will scale eventually)
This will, make the requirement to visit this site directly, redundant. The proxy will intercept tracker comms and look for more trackers for you, and automatically multiplex out all tracker comms to all the trackers that are carrying the torrent and combine the results back to your client.
When I get it done, I'm going to have to use a subscription model, I'm not sure what I will charge, I hope to keep it small, and anyone who donates before it gets released will get their subscription free for a period yet to be determined
I'd appreciate realistic feedback on what you all think would be a fair subscription fee, I would not expect anyone to pay more than 20 bucks a month, but maybe 10, what do you think??

Of course, the more subscriptions, the less I can charge - not really sure how to work it out tho

Cheers.

i registered to get into the forum today. shocked that even after 3 weeks nobody responded to the first posting. i think a subscription model is very acceptable to get rid of leeches and to improve the quality of life. any other method of payment that you can take other than paypal ?

Not at the moment, I haven really had a chance to look at other options out there.
I'd hoped this topic might foster some discussion on that, like what people commonly have access to.

Whats your preference/choice?

Cheers

i and more people out there who are living outside the western world, usually don't have credit card let alone paypal. fortunately i can purchase disposable credit card. so if you can receive credit card payment, i can donate right away. US currency is still an uphill exchange from mine. did you say most or all of the donations are less than $10 ? well i hope you will take my $11. it's time to prioritize your resources and who shall receive access.

there are some good examples of great service swarmed by tons of leeches (eg. demonoid). they eventually closed down their website from public use and only open the website either by invitation from existing members or to long time members who have earned their access. i for one would love to see this website survive and grow

if i'm not mistaken, there used to be a way to send an invoice from paypal website so that the donator can pay with credit card without opening a paypal account. i'm not in US so i cannot open paypal

This has got to be one of the most useful sites relating to bittorrent I have come across apart from TPB itself.

I would certainly donate something if I had any to spare right now (which is why I use bittorrent in the first place! ;))

For monthly fees you should probably try a low-cost high-volume approach.. For sure there are lot of people who use this site, I'm sure if they all put in a little bit you'd have more than enough for the bandwidth used

As for directly interfacing with the client, I don't know.. I prefer the website method myself

I'm not in the US and I have a Paypal account which works fine (even if I have only used it 3 times)
